OTT & Theme lolita being the outfit standard now? ✙ Halloween lolita meetup

Hi sweeties! ♥

Like every fashion style, lolita keeps evolving to new directions all the time. It started out as much simpler old school style, at one point simple and OTT (=over the top) sweet lolita was a thing, then it started to move more into a classic direction and now it's passed that. There are smaller things becoming the things, for example cat prints, nun lolita looks, forehead pearls, animal bags and countless of other stuff. Right now I have a feeling that OTT and theme lolita is somewhat popular, but has it gone too much to the outlines of lolita?

These days social media is so huge, that there is this kind of social media pressure. Okay there are those who post just for their own joy, but mostly it's more or less untrue. It has become a competition! Who has the most likes, how many comments there is, someone has more followers than the other one and so on. Well of course people feel good about being liked, that's normal. If someone gets lots of compliments, then surely they will feel more confident. Still it should not be about the e-fame. SoMe can also make people feed bad if they don't get the response they want, if there is too little of it or perhaps it's negative. Either way it can have a huge impact on people's self esteem and confidence level.

When browsing lolita outfit posts in facebook, tumblr or instagram, it makes me wonder if the standard level of lolita outfits has become a bit too much. The ones that are getting liked and shared the most are usually high quality photos, outfits are over the top, there are lots going on with a pricey dress and extravagant accessories or the amount of them. There are some exceptions though; simple well done classic lolita looks are usually liked and classic gothic style with Moitie. This is a rough scratch from the surface and does not apply to everything, just something I started thinking about around the Halloween.

F yeah lolita wrote something good btw:
"YOU CAN BE A LOLITA FOR HALLOWEEN. YOU CAN EVEN COSPLAY AS A LOLITA.
It’s OK. You are not banned from dressing up in Lolita on certain days of the year if you don’t wear it the rest of the year. You can wear Lolita as a costume because you want to try it out in an environment where it is socially acceptable to wear a costume and you feel more comfortable trying out the fashion that way.

Be a Lolita for Halloween if you want to be one. Not a Witch Lolita or a Bunny Lolita or a Maid Lolita, just be a regular Lolita if that’s what you want. Lolita has managed to survive the past 20+ Halloweens and past 9 billion anime conventions without descending into costume anarchy.
"

Has basic lolita become so ordinary, that every outfit needs to be extravagant? Yes it is fun to make awesome outfits, go through a lot of trouble for them, experiment with style, mix and match and show your creation to other people who will appreciate it. It is good to have lolita goals, inspiration, idols and a direction to improve the style towards to. But.... There doesn't always need to be a wow-factor, something that makes the outfit epic or special. It is good to remember the basics as well and just have fun with other lolitas and wear aesthetic wearable outfits. It's enough to enjoy wearing something pretty that one does enjoy, it doesn't have to be a theme outfit every time. I like to think that sometimes for special occasions like for example tea parties can have a more OTT themed outfit, because usually there is a theme for the event to get inspiration from. For everyday wear, meetups, shopping trips and such and even for the events and tea parties it is totally ok to wear something simpler.

Everyone has their own style as well, someone likes more color, someone toned down, the other one simpler and some super exaggerated style. If you want to wear a chandelier on your head for buying groceries, then go ahead! If you want to wear a dress and a blouse to a family get together, then go ahead! It's your style and you decide! ♡ This is just me rambling about something that I've been thinking and perhaps I didn't lose my point while writing this without any plans really. x) The thing I would like to gotten through, that there should not be a standard to wear themed and ott lolita style all the time, it is not mandatory. Outfits can be well coordinated, worn beautifully and liked just the way they are. ♡

| French hood: made by me | Queen collar: made by me |
| Blouse: altered mix of a second hand blouse & HNHM sleeves |
| Dress: Maxicimam | Boots: Bodyline | Necklace: Restyle |

My outfit for this meetup is a theme lolita coordination. I made a simple black coord (calling it simple because there are nothing that black and a hint of purple) with my handmade accessories and the big sleeves to create an Evil Queen inspired coordination.

The french hood inspired headdress I made a year ago for a photoshoot and because I wanted to try this kind of historical Tudors era Renaissance headpiece. It's black velvet with hand sewn venetian lace and pearl beads.

The collar is the one I made for Hellocon Tea Party this summer. It has an iron wire frame with black organza, some black fabric for the edges and hand sewn lace pieces.

The shoes are gotten at the time when there was a huge sale at Bodyline. I think they had some trouble, because heard that some got their orders canceled and it took quite a while to ship out mine. These are black gothic Bodyline boots s504 and at the time cost €18. The material is plastic, most likely PU leather. When using the shoes, they get these permanent wrinkles and the plastic is not really that warm or breathable material. Well they were cheap and they look good. Positively surprised how good they look and that they are not overly big around the leg. The only thing that actually bothers me, is how they are not curving enough from the front and when having them on, the leg pushes this wrinkle in front of the lacing. Hmm..okies I explained that really weirdly, hope you got the point. x)

I hope everyone has had a great Halloween!

Mine kind of passed without more than pumpkin carving, since been having the worst superflu-bronchitis-sinus infection-massive cough for over two weeks now. Luckily I got to dress up before the actual time (to me Halloween/Samhain/Kekri starts a week or two before the date and lasts week afterwards) for a spooky photoshoot and pre-halloween meetup that Rosa Nitida put together in Helsinki.

For me it was a one day trip to Hki by train. Haven't been in a meetup there for a long time and was a fun change and got meet new people and see some friends. First we got together at the railway station, then headed to Kaisaniemi Botanic Garden to photoshoot out outfits. We had an actual photographer to take our pictures, big thanks to Heini Illukka for coming with us! ♡ The weather was quite chilly and we started to get hungry, so luckily we had a reservation for our big group of over 20 people at Fazer Cafe. Mmm.. I had some hot chocolate with rum, quiche with salad and a some cake, which I could not finish! My tummy was so full, but it felt so bad not to be able to eat it. Never happened to me before and hope it never happens again! O_O

Sini had the coolest gun shot wound!! Awsum ♡__♡

I spotted some Mana -shoothies before the meetup, I guess this meant that the day was approved and blessed by Mana-sama! ♡ ♡

Thank you lovelies! The day was so much fun and had such great vibes.
Let's do it again soon! ♡

If you got some opinions and comments about theme, ott and costume like lolita or the topic in general, I would love to see them!
♡ Thanks for reading ♡

✤ 10 random facts about me ✤

Hei rakkaat ♥

Josefiinalle iso kiitos kuvausavusta! ♡

Hi darlings ♥
I've had a little bloggin break, well I have told the reason already in instagram and on facebook-page. A depression has come for a visit and actually been hanging around for some time now and before that a burnout, thinking about writing more about this later. Currently I'm having a bad case of sinus infection, so there's no strength to get into that subject. It is quite heavy to think and write about.

I've been thinking about a random facts post for a while and here would be ten of those. There's also pictures of our local meetup. Big thanks to Josefiina for helping with the photos! ♡

| Dress: Rabbith Teeth | Shoes: Bodyline | Hair: Gothic Lolita Wigs |

1. Mun lempparijätski on lakritsi!

1. My favourite ice cream is licorice! It's a funny leftover from the time that my mom was pregnant, because she ate a lot of licorice ice cream. Never before it or rarely afterwards. It might be that I was craving for it and made my mom eat it or the other way around, that the craving has become from the fact that she ate it. Who knows.

2. Olen tosi huono saamaan selvä laulujen lyriikoista. No en tietenkään kaikista, mutta vähänkin epäselvistä, nopeista tai hassusti lausutuista kohdista.

2. I'm very bad at hearing the words in song lyrics. Well not of course all of them, but even the slightly unclear, fast or weirdly pronounced parts.

3. When I was a teenager, around 14-16 years old, I used to wear makeup almost every day. I couldn't leave home without makeup. Once in school we were talking that if I would come to school without makeup, this one dude who always did his hair, would come without any hair gel. I didn't accept. :P

4. Olen hirmuinen huulirasva-addicti! Laitoimpa juuri tätä kirjoittaessa uuden kerroksen kosteutta. :P

4. I'm a huge lip balm-addict! I can't do without for even a couple of hours. I always have several with me, gotta have spare ones and also at home there's always one within my reach. Just know while writing this, put a new layer of moisture. :P

Korvatulpat on myös no-no, koska sitten kuulen oman hengitykseni.

5. I can't stand snoring or any nose sniffle sounds! It's something that makes my stress-vein pop out and tear my hair off and I just can't stand it! When I was young, I used to go kick my dad if his snoring reached my room. I'm in the limit of exploding to someone on the bus if their nose is making sounds. This applies to my one nose as well, I wake up at night if my nose is snuffling and can't fall asleep before I can fix it. Earplugs are a no-no, because then I can hear myself breathing.

6. I sleep every single night with the same plushtoy. I got a cat stuffed animal from my big sister after my cat Ninni died and got deeply depressed. The plush toy became my safety toy and I had it with me and petted it all the time. Then I narrowed it down to only having it in my arms at night. I usually take it with me even when traveling. During the years there has only been a few nights when it wasn't next to me, times when I was sleeping over somewhere else. It is already really worn out and a little bit flattened into a crooked shape, because at night it's a bit under my left side.

7. Tosi usein kun hymyilen, mun suupielet on oikeasti alaspäin.

7. Very often when I smile, the corners of my mouth actually point down.

8. I'm a highly sensitive person in ways. A little thing that bothers me is the labels inside clothes and I always cut them off. If I have a tiny piece of anything in my sock, I gotta take it out or if there's something on my bed, it really bothers me and I have to clean it.

9. I'm very bad at noticing if someone is flirting with me or is anyways interested in me that wort of way. I can just rudely ignore the whole thing with my unnoticeability if it isn't said directly, because I might think that someone is just a nice person and want's to be my friend and have a good conversation. Although my over-enthusiasm and goofyness is many times interpret wrongly, when I'm just having a really good time.

10. When I drink coffee or tea, I always leave a tiny bit into the bottom of the cup, I never completely finish it. Sometimes I even forget the whole cup somewhere and find it later. x)

We had a very lovely little meetup with the four of us. We went to visit Pyynikinlinna and enjoyed it's aesthetics, beautiful rooms, paintings and everything. As usual, I did the thing where I touch everything and say "mine". Just like would be marking my territory. After the museum stroll we went to the backyard to take outfit photos of everyone and we got some really lovely ones in the beautiful environment.

Abandoned factory & Dreamy mansion @ Hiedanranta

Muih!
Oli aivan mahtava päivä! Uuuh! Pääsin seikkailemaan Hiedanrannan suljetulle tehdasalueelle! :D

Heya!
Was just the most incredible day! Uuuh! Got to go for an adventure in Hiedanranta closed factory area! :D
It's this closed down factory place, where there's a huge amount of buildings and a really old mansion, which has been some time owned by W. con Nottenbeck in the 1800s (the manager of Finlayson and who's had a big influence in Tampere). I was very excited about the whole place, because abandoned places have that own kind of feeling and history interests me greatly.

I went to the place to have a photoshoot, in a nice hangover morning put my outfit together and hopped into a bus towards Lielahti. There at the gates met Krister, the photographer, from where we headed to the mansion. They had finished with the first model and now it was my turn.

Oman kodin unelma. Rakennuksessa oli jopa keskuslämmitystä päällä, vaikka meidän enemmän "nykyaikaisessa" kodissa vain harvakseltaan ihan hieman lämpöä joinain öinä.
Tämä olisi oikein hyvä taloehdokas kodiksi. ◠‿◠
(harmi että kaiketi tuo koko alue meinataan muuttaa asuinalueeksi, onhan se aika hieno tontti kieltämättä)

Wow what an old mansion! I myself prefer wooden mansion buildings, but there's no questioning about the fact, that this is gorgeous. And the yard and the beatch and the trees..woah! The mansion has been used for office work and the inside mainly has rooms turned into offices, they are really empty and boring. My mind adventures into dreaming, how I would decorate the place and make use of every room. Of course clothing, shoes, accessories and such would have at least a room or two. Oh those garden and tea parties, which would be organized there. Dream of a home of my own. The building even had a central heating on, even though in our more "modern" home there's only a tiny bit of heat every now and then at night time.
This would a great candidate for a new home. ◠‿◠
(too bad that the whole area is apparently going to be changed into a living area, well it is quite a nice land piece)

(I look like a giant >-< )

No wonder we got a smile on our faces, all those surroundings and making photography is awesome!

Mulla on silmissä kesällä käyttöön otetut violetit piilolinssin Geo Coloured Lenses-kaupasta. Tuntuu muakavalta päässä ja näyttää kivalta. Väri on haaleampi, mitä odotin, mutta sopii kivasti vähän hillitympään lookkiin. :)

In my eyes I'm wearing purple circle lenses from Geo Coloured Lenses-store, which I've been using since last summer. They feel comfortable and look nice. The colour is not as strong as I expected, but they fit nicely into more toned down look. :)

Photography & Copyright by Krister Löfroth

Aivan ihastuttavaa! ♥

In reality I would be more intersted in these kind of large-ish wooden houses. Naturally old wooden houses, as long as the foundations are incorrupt and otherwise in a good shape. There were two houses side by side near the mansion, possibly for the help? There was a beautiful old tree in the front yard and a swing, where I went to sit down in all the quietness of the Sunday. Just wonderful! ♥

Sitten siirryttiin tehdasrakennukseen.

Then we moved into a factory building. There were for models for the photoshoots, each has less than an hour time. I was the second one, but of course I stayed to hang out and explore the place, because had the chance! :D

In a place like that will start to wonder and have so many questions. That's why history interests me as well. Places have been left like they are, just taking own things and gone. The worker's locker room had a half full mustard tube on the floor and crossword puzzles in the locker. Doors on the walls, which lead to nowhere. Equipment and stuff, buildings about to collapse, tabloids on the table. Even the sun started to shine and had the most lovely afternoon walk.

Niin paljon paikkojan suoraan kauhuleffoista. Tuolla olisi upeaa järjestää kuvauspaja!
So many places straight out of horrormovies. Would be amazing to organize a photoshoot workshop there!

Loppua kohden ilmestyi synkeitä pilviä ja vielä aikamoinen sade siihen päälle, ei jotain pahaa ellei hyvääkin, sillä taivaalla komeili ihanainen sateenkaari! ♥

Toward the end there appeared dark clouds and then quite the rain on top of it, not something bad unless something good, because the sky had a lovely rainbow! ♥

Jättimäiset kiitokset - Massive thanks to

Markku Rintala - assistance

Awesome models

..and to that one dude, who had to come work on sunday, just for the purpose, that he could open the area gate for us!

London!! ♥

Tervehdys ihanaiset ^^

Hello lovelies ^^
There has been less and less blog posts and feeling kind of guilty, because haven't had time to post. This blog is in my mind all the time and I like scribbling here, but sometimes there's just simply no time. A few reader has ran away too. x) Even my phone broke down and was almost 1,5 months without a phone with internet! Social media death, but now I'm back!

Well let me tell you about what I've been doing..in LONDON! :D Waaah! So I was there for a week and came home last week, would have been awesome, if had had more time and money. It's a really nice place that definetly won't ran out things to do!

Obligatory flight picture, because haven't traveled anywhere far for over eight years..exciting!
My hotel or more precisely college drom, which they rent out during summer break, was really nice. The place was called Prince's Gardens, because there was some nice park areas around and there were people hanging out in the evenings, even though it was already quite cold. I chose this place, because it was affordable in London prices, near enough to the city center and had my own bathroom and even breakfast was included. Below my nice window view. :)

First morning was time for Victoria&Albert museum. We had made plans beforehand with a few lolitas, that we'd go visit and see especially the fashion-exhibit. Oh my what old outfits!! We probably left a huge drooling line on the floor, when admiring all the magnificent outfits. Went to see some other exhibits as well, for example medieval artifacts, but could have just raid the clothing side. :P

After the museum we headed to a lolita meetup, but had to leave before it even started, because my tummy got upset about coffee's milk probably. On the way got myself a sim-card and unlimited data services and went to take care of my tummy ache.

A couple of days went by with lolita thingies, which was the reason I went to London to start with. On the other day had some time in the morning..
I went for a walk to Hyde Park. It was a really lovely sunday morning and quite chilly, but the day got warmer surprisingly much and in the evening when it got dark, was feeling a bit like summer. I had time to check only a little section of the park, but it was lovely to experience some nature and calmness in the middle of a big city.

After a frilly lolita-weekend, of which I'm doing a separate post, I had time to go and do my own thingies. First went to see some basic sights; Buckingham palace, also Big Ben and the house of parliament. Well now I can at least say, that have seen them and because when I was little, red somewhere, that Michael Jackson's dream house was Buckingham Palace. ^^

I also walked through St. James park, so lovely that there's parks! Would be just absolute to have nature in the middle and around big cities. People are in a much better mood too, when they can chill out in parks. :)

Yksi mun suuria unelmia toteutui! Pääsin British Museumiin katsomaan ihan vierestä muinaisen Egyptin esineistöä ja maailmaa! ♥ ♥

One of my big dreams came true! I got to go see ancient Egypt's artifacts and world to British Museum! ♥ ♥
Since some kindergarten age have been adoring archaeology, ancient Egypt and anyways history. I was like in some dreamworld and couldn't believe it was true. Had to hold back so that wouldn't start crying by myself, still there was something in the corner of my eye. Still feeling overwhelming happyness about it. :')

Jälkeenpäin menin vielä shoppaileen! :D
..ja löysin aikas komeen miehen! Eikös me olla näytetäki hyvältä yhessä? Mitäköhän Suomen tulli ois sanonu ku tommosen roudais himaan. x)

Afterwards went to do some shopping! :D
..and found quite the handsome man! Don't we look good together? Wonder what Finnish customs would have said, if were to bring that kind of thing home. x)

Transportation with tube wasn't at all that frightening as I thought it would be! Was really nervous about the subway system, what it would be like and getting lost and going to the wrong direction, but it was actually really easy. I avoided the worst rush hours, but still it was sometimes really crowded. I bought an Oyster card before hand, it's a card where you put money and then can travel with it. You can go half price and if there's lots of trips one day, there's a maximum limit how far it will only charge.
After one day was really feeling like that shoe exhibit picture! Was walking with shoes that has heels first to sightseeing, a museum, to eat and shopping, probably about 10h on the move. Oh damn my feet were hurting and horrible blisters. Before that had been on high heels for a couple of days, then willingly changed into flats for the rest of my stay. x)

Rakennukset oli iiihania!! :D Mun mielestä Suomessa on niin tylsiää arkkitehtuuria, kaikki semmosia laatikoita tai sitten jonkun pirun kalliin suunnittelijan tekemä ihme kummallisuus. Tykkäsin kuinka rakennukset oli usein persoonallisia, katukuvassa näki vaikka mitä erilaisia juttuja. Aivan mahtavaa!

The buildings were loovely!! :D I think in Finland has such boring architecture, everything looks like same kind of boxes and then there's some damn expensive designer's really weird looking thing. I liked how the buildings had personality, on the street could see so many type of things. So awesome!

Piccadilly circus selfie & bubble tea ^_^

There would have been all sorts of cafes and restaurants, too bad that tummy doesn't intake so much food, that would have liked to taste yummies and visit places!

Very stylish casual outfit pictures ;)
I realized, that it's more practical to be with short hair, when have to use layers and a scarf from time to time. Had my GLW's Curly Bob with me, which I've had for almost four years and it's still one of my favourites!

On the last day saw a Finnish friend of mine and we went to explore Camden Town, which is this cool cultural place, where there's lots of nice shops, loads of handicrafts and alternative styles. In the evenings there are great parties and gigs. Had been already shopping, that had to hold back a bit. Found so many nice material thingies and there was this courtyard full of food stalls, which had variety of many nationalities, nomnom.
When waiting for my friend in front of the subway, there was this old man, who first was smoking a joint and then took out crayons and started writing to the street. There was loads of old leftovers telling he had been there before writing his wisdom.

We went for a beer too, it was good, tasted a couple of local ones, that the bartender recommended and look at that label, so cool! :)

Woah! Hieno hetki sanoa heippa Lontoolle.

Packing was painful, huuh, luckily had a borrowed a kind of travel scale for bags from a friend, because the bags were heavy and had to put stuff on myself. Got up at 4am and put on jeans, converse boots, two petticoats, lolita skirt, polyester underdress, lolitadress, a hoodie, coat and a top hat. Damn I was stylish! >_<
On the bus in the morning saw a gorgeous sunrise. There were these moments, when we passed by fields and meadows and there was this haze, which was glowing in the sunlight. Would have gotten epic shots with a camera, when a flock of birds took off or horses were running in the mist. Woah! A great moment to say bye bye to London.
