Tavallisesta tyylistä poiketen, halusin kirjoitella vähän kuunkierron vaikutuksista kauneudenhoidossa. En noin muutenkaan ole kauneudesta höpötellyt tai meikeistä, kertokaa toki, jos sellaiseen olisi kiinnostusta. ^__^ Olen tämmöisistä perinnetiedoista ja -taidoista kiinnostunut ja pitkään erityisen innostunut kuun kierrosta ja sen mukaan eri töiden ja tekemisten ajoittamisesta. Tein kuunkierron vaikutusten kokemuksista myös lopputyön kouluun ja heiii, viime viikolla palautin muuten viimeiset tehtävät koululle, eli tässä vaan odottelen valmistumispapereita! :D

Wanted to write about something that's a little bit different from my usual posts, which is how moon cycle effects on beauty. I haven't really blabbered about beauty and makeup stuff, so let me know if they are something you would like to see here. ^__^ I'm very interested about these kind of traditional knowledge and -skills and been especially into this moon cycle and timing of different works and tasks. I did my my final assignment/project thingie for school about moon cycle effect experiences and heyyy, last week I returent couple of last things to school, so now I'm just waiting for my graduation papers! :D
Kröhöm..tämä kuun kierto ei siis tarkoita naisten kuukautiskiertoa, jos sitä luulitte. x)
Lähes kaikki kansat historiassa ovat eläneet kuun kierron mukaisesti, onhan se auringon jälkeen suurin näkyvä taivaankappale, joka vielä muuttaa paikkaansa ja muotoa. Kuulla on neljä perusvaihetta; uusikuu, kasvava/nouseva vaihe, täysikuu ja vähenevä/laskeva vaihe. Näiden vaiheiden lisäksi on vielä pikkutarkempia vaiheita, kuten horoskooppipäivät, niiden elementit, sekä ratatason nousut ja laskut, näitä en kuitenkaan lähde selittämään, ettei mene liian sekavaksi. Uusikuu ja täysikuu on merkitty usein kalentereihinkin, joten näitä on helppo seurata. Olen itse tarkkaillut näitä asioita parisen vuotta ja haluankin nyt jakaa muutamia vinkkejä, miten kuun kierron kanssa kannattaa ajoittaa joitain kauneudenhoidollisia juttuja.
Perusidea on tämä:
- Kasvavan kuun aikaan kaikki imeytyy, nousee, kasvaa, kerää voimia, vahvistaa ..
- Vähenevän kuun aikaan puhdistuu, hengittää ulos, poistaa ..

Almost all people in the history of mankind have lived according to the phases of the moon cycle, because the moon is second largest thing seen in the sky and it even changes it's place and shape. The moon has four basic phases; new moon, growing/rising phase, full moon and decreasing/descending phase. Besides these there are also more detailed phases, like horoscope days, their elements, also rising and descending phases of the orbit (not sure if this translated right), btu I won't be talking about these, so it won't get too complicated. New and full moon are usually marked in calenders, so it's easy to follow them. I've been paying attention to these things for a couple of years and now I want to share some tips about how to time some beauty treatment thingies with the moon cycle.
Basic idea is this:
- While the moon is growin, everything absorbs, rises, grows, gatheres strength, gets stronger ..
- While the moon is decreasing, everything gets clean, breathes out, disposes ..
Hiustenhoito
Ihmiset, jotka käyvät kampaajalla, ovat voineet huomata, kuinka joinain kertoina väri ei tartu, leikattu malli ei pysy tai hiuksista tulee huonokuntoiset. Tämä voi johtua kuun kanssa väärästä ajoituksesta, tietenkään kaikki ei ole niin yksinkertaista, sillä maailmassa toimii monia kiertokulkuja ja henkilökohtaiset asiat voivat olla erilaisia. Parilla vinkillä voi kuitenkin optimoida hyviä tuloksia.
- Jos haluaa hillitä hiusten kasvua, kannattaa ne leikata vähenevän kuun aikaan.
- Jos haluaa hiusten kasvavan hyvin ja niiden olevan tuuheat, kannattaa ne leikata kasvavan kuun aikaan.
Horoskooppipäivistä kerron tähän sen verran, että leijonapäivät ovat parhaita hiusten leikkuupäiviä katsomatta kuun vaiheeseen. Puolestaan kala- ja rapupäivinä hiuksia ei tulisi leikata tai edes pestä tai muuten hiukset kuivuvat ja hilseilevät. Näitä päiviä voi nähdä esimerkiksi
kuukalenterista.
Hair care
People go to the haidresser, might have noticed how some times the colour won't stick, the cut won't keep it's shape or the hair is afterwards in a poor condition. This might be because of the timing with moon has been wrong, but ofcourse nothing is that simple in this world, because there are many cycles working and people are different. Here are some tips you can try to optimize the good results.
- If you want to slow down the growth, the cut should be done while the moon is decreasing.
- If you want speed up the growth and full hair, the cut should be done while the moon is growing.
I will tell something about the horoscope days, that leo-days are the best for cutting hair, no matter what the phase is. On the other hand, pisces- and scorpio-days are the worst and even washing the hair should be avoided or they will get dry and ichy.

Ihokarvat
- Jos haluaa ihokarvoista eroon, kannattaa niitä ajella/poistattaa vähenevän kuun aikaan, etenkin muutamana päivänä ennen uutta kuuta.
Body hair
- If you want to get rid of bodyhair, the shaving/removing should be done while the moon is decreasing, especially on the few days before new moon.

Kynnet
- Kansanperinteen mukaan kynnet tulisi leikata perjantai-iltaisin, niin ei tule hammassärkyjä.
- Kynnet kasvavat hitaammin, kun ne leikataan vähenevällä kuulla.
- Kynnet kasvavat nopeammin, kun ne leikataan kasvavalla kuulla.
- Kynsi- ja jalkasienien hoito, sekä syylien poisto onnistuu parhaiten vähenevän kuun aikaan.
Nails
- Folklore says that nails should be cut on friday-evenings, so there won't be any toothaches.
- Nails grow slower, when they are cut during descending moon.
- Nails grow faster, when they are cut during growing moon.
- Fungal infection treatments and removing warts are most succesful during the descending moon.

Ihonhoito
- Ihon epäpuhtauksien poistoon ja puhdistukseen sopii parhaiten vähenevän
kuun aika. Näppyjen nyppiminen ja kasvonaamiot sopivat hyvin tähän
aikaan, kehon kuonat liikkuvat tällöin ulospäin.
- Ihoon imeytettävät voiteet ja ravinteet kannattaa laittaa kasvavan kuun aikaan, tällöin keho imee itseensä päin.
Skin care
- Removing and cleaning inpurities from the skin is best to be done while the decreasing moon. Squeezing pimples and facial masks are also fit in this phase, when all scum from the body is moving outwards.
- Lotions and other stuff wanted to get absorbed, should be applied while the moon is growing, at this time body is taking in.

Painon pudotus (tai toisinpäin)
- Laihduttaminen ja paastot olisi hyvä tehdä vähenevän kuun aikaan, kun
kehon erilaiset möhmelit virtaavat luonnollisesti ulospäin. Tulee kuitenkin nauttia
tarpeellisesta nesteensaannista, sillä tämä kuun vaihe myös kuivattaa.
- Kasvavalla kuulla kannattaa välttää erityisesti lihottavia sapuskoita, sillä tällöin keho ottaa sisäänsä ja varastoi energiaa.
Losing weight (or the opposite way)
- Losing weight or fasting to clense the body, should be done while the moon is decreasing and all the ugly stuff from the body is flowing naturally out. While this phase should also take care of proper hydration, because the phase has also drying effect.
- When the moon is growing, should avoid non-healthy food, like sugar and fatty stuff, because body is taking in and storing energy.

Täysikuu
Täydenkuun aikaan, samana päivänä ja pari päivää ennen, on paras aika
juhlia, valvoa, järkätä bileet, ruoka sulaa hyvin.. Täysikuu antaa energiaa tanssia ja
pysyä hereillä, krapulakaan ei ole niin paha täydenkuun juhlien jälkeen.

Uuden kuun aikaan on taas täysin päinvastainen vaikutus, silloin on kovin väsynyt, ruoka ei sula, eikä meinaa yleisesti jaksaa paljoa.
Full moon
The time of the full moon, the same day and a couple of days before, is the best time to celebrate, throw a party, stay up late, food digests well.. The full moon gives energy to dance and stay awake, also hangover is not so bad after a full moon party. ;)
The new moon has the opposite effect, this time easily makes very tired, food won't digest and there's not really much energy to do sthing.
Tämmöinen kuun kierron kanssa elely oli tosiaan joskus ihan normaalia, sen kanssa ajoitettiin puun kaataminen, viljely, siivous..kaikenlainen touhu. Jossain kohtaa ihmiskunnan vaiheessa perinnetaidot ovat unohtuneet ja jääneet, varmaankin kun nykyinen yhteiskuntarakenne on aina vain kasvua ja voittoa
tavoitteleva, ettei ole aikaa ajatella milloin asiat kannattaisi tehdä.
Kiire on nykyisin niin tuttua.
Tottakai kiireelliset asiat ja hätätapaukset tehdään milloin on tarve,
mutta jos on aikaa, niin kannattaa vähän tsekkailla milloin mitäkin
tehdä, se tuottaa tulosta. ◕‿◕
This kind of living according to the moon's phases was sometime an everyday thing, the timing effected everything like woodcutting, farming, cleaning..all kinds of stuff. At some point mankind forgot about traditional know-how's and didn't do then anymore, propably because our modern society structure always want's growtsh and profit, so there are no time to think when things should be done. Rush and fussing is these days a bit too well known.
Ofcourse urgent tasks and emergencies are done when they are need to, but if there's time, then should pay attention when to do things, it will pay off. ◕‿◕
